A group of residents staged a protest in Piliyandala complaining that the government is not taking proper action in treating the 3 children who were injured in the recent shooting.

Our correspondent stated that the protestors started the agitation at the scene, where the shooting was carried out on Narcotic Bureau officers and later proceeded to Piliyandala town.

During the protest, mother of the injured children and several residents expressed their views to our news team.

However, a team of investigators from the government analyst’s department has inspected the crime scene after the protest.

The shooting against a team of officers attached to the Narcotic Bureau occurred in front of a state bank on Piliyandala Moratuwa road on May 9th.

An officer died in the shooting and another two including IP Neomal Rangajeewa are still receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.

The 3 children and another youth who received injuries are receiving treatment at the Kalubowila hospital.
