Suspects who shot at police in Piliyandala identified

Police say that the identification of suspects connected to the incident shooting where a group of officers from the Police Narcotics bureau were shot at in Piliyandala, has been completed

IGP Pujith Jayasundara noted that two special police teams have been deployed to arrest the suspects.

In addition, concerns have been drawn towards assessing if the proper police safety protocols were followed during the incident and what other secure mechanisms are necessary in carrying out such raids in the future.

A group of  police narcotics bureau officers were shot at on the 9th of May in front of a state bank in piliyandala , resulting in the death of one police officer and injuring IP Neomal Rajajeeva and one other officer.

3 children were injured in the crossfire.
