Trade Unions meet Finance Minister

A discussion took place between the trade union representatives and the Finance Minister, Ravi Karunanayake yesterday regarding appointing a new Commissioner for the Excise Department.

Speaking at the discussion, the trade union representatives remarked by appointing a senior officer in their department for the post of new Commissioner, income received from taxes would be increased while strengthening the programs carried out by the government.

Accordingly, Finance Minister has said that the new Commissioner would be appointed after the proposal made by trade unions is approved by the President and the premier.
