Approvals have not obtained for the plan of collapsed building in Wellawatta-Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka-CCTV footage released

Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka revealed today that neither a draft certificate nor a compliance certificate had been obtained by the owner of the building that collapsed at Wellawatta yesterday.

Minister Ranawaka was answering to a journalist at a media conference held at his ministry this afternoon.

He said a plan has been approved to build a housing scheme in 2009 but the collapsed building is constructed behind the approved site.

Building Research Organization also said that the constructors have not received its approval.

Meanwhile, rescue operations are continuing in search of another two persons believed to have been trapped inside the building.

Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and police are still engaged in search operations.

One person was reported dead and 21 others were injured in the incident yesterday.

Meanwhile, a CCTV footage of the Wellawatta building collapse incident has been released to social media.
