President departs to Australia

President Maithripala Sirisena left the island on a three day official tour of Australia this afternoon.

Our correspondent stated that the president with his delegation left the country in the Sri Lankan Airline Flight UL308.

President Sirisena is scheduled to hold discussions with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and several other leaders.

Meanwhile, President’s Media Unit stated that this is the first time Australia extended an official invitation to a Sri Lankan leader to tour the country.

Several agreements are scheduled to be signed during President’s Sirisena’s tour of Australia.
