Rival gangs clash again in Hikkaduwa; 2 killed in a shooting

Two persons were killed in a shooting carried out inside a sticker selling shop in front of Hikkaduwa Divisional Secretariat this afternoon.

Police said one of the dead has been identified as 34 year old Sujith Himal aka Sticker Sujith.

The other victim has been identified as 26 year old Thushan Dhanuddhara.

Two assailants who rode the motor cycle opened fire at the victims and fled the scene.

The victims were rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching hospital but police said they were pronounced dead on admission.

Police suspect the motive behind the shooting could be a dispute between two area gangs led by former Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Manoj Mendis and Podi Lassi respectively.
