Soon after assuming duty in his new ministry, Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake made a complaint to the CID today.

The minister requested the CID to take prompt action against some hackers who published a forged twitter account in the minister’s name and posted fake news saying former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has died.

The hackers had published the fake news quoting Foreign Ministry Media spokesperson Maheshini Colonne, in such a manner for unsuspected readers to trust it.

Meanwhile, Minister Ravi Karunanayake said that he is ready to undertake the new challenge which has been put on his shoulders to march towards a novel direction.

New Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera who swapped ministries with Minister Ravi Karunanayake was also present to congratulate his colleague.

Later, Indian High Commission to Sri Lanka Tharanjith Singh congratulated minister Karunanayake for his new appointment.

They also had a short discussion on strengthening bilateral relations as well.

At the same time, Petroleum Resources Minister Arjuna Ranatunga also assumed duty in his new ministry today.

Several ministers and MPs including UPFA general Secretary Minister Mahinda Amaraweera were present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, minister Ranatunga said that Ports ministry was able to achieve several goals during his tenure.
