Police have confirmed 28 persons have died and another 41 persons are missing in the midst of the inclement weather that has cause flooding and landslides.

Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts are the most severely affected.

6 persons died and 4 others were reported missing in landslide in Wellawatta Bogaha-watta in Bulath-sinhala.

In addition 8 persons are missing following a landslide in Deevalakada in Kobawaka Bulathsinhala.

3 members of the same family died when an earth mount collapsed at Baduraliya in Kalutara.

Another two women have died after a parapet wall collapsed on a house at Sapugaskanda in Heiyantuduwa last night. 

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Center stated that 10 persons have died in Ratnapura.

Ratnapura town is now completely submerged.

A person from Kahawatta in Beli Aththa is missing after he was caught up in a current of gushing flood waters.

It is feared that Morawaka kanda in Deniyaya is prone to earthslips.
