Foreign countries pledge support to Sri Lanka to overcome the natural disaster

During a meeting yesterday between the Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake and the heads of foreign missions in Sri Lanka , the minister revealed that Over 24 foreign countries have stepped in to assist with relief for flood and landslides affected victims.

The main objective of the meeting was to create awareness amongst the international community,  of the devastation  caused by the recent natural disasters in Sri Lanka,  and solicit support for the government's future actions to see restoration of these communities.

Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Consuls from 134 countries, and representatives of UN agencies and other foreign organizations attended the meeting.

Minister Karunanayake thanked the representatives from countries that contributed already towards flood relief and went on pledge to work towards strengthening Sri Lanka's relationships on a global scale.
