The National Building Research Organization has issued warnings that the historical Pahiyangala Cave in Bulathsinhala is at risk of a landslide hazard.

Resident monk of the Pahiyangala Cave temple Ven. Pahiyangala Ananda Thera said that the officials attached to the institute issued the warning after they observed a crack in the Cave wall.

21 persons were buried alive in a landslide on the left side of the cave last week.

Ven. Pahiyangala Ananda Thera gave this statement about the calamity and the visible crack in the cave wall.

Our news team also contacted the head of the landslide hazard  unit of the Building Research Organization R.M.S. Bandara to comment on the situation.

Assistant Director of the Archaeology Department Mahinda Karunarathna stated that a team of officials will be deployed to inspect the crack in the Cave wall next week.
