Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake says that the Qatar crisis will have no direct impact on Sri lanka.

Six Arabian countries including Saudi Arabia have decided to sever diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar.

However issuing a communiqué yesterday, the Qatar State said that it regrets thus severing diplomatic relations.

Similarly the Qatar foreign ministry said that steps had been taken for all people of the country including its citizens to carry on their normal life without any change.

Currently a labour force of more than 100,000 Sri Lankans work in Qatar.

However Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake told our news team that there was no impact at all on Sri Lanka or any Sri Lankan. 

Sri Lanka’s ambassador in Qatar A. S. P. Liyanage too told our news team that if any Sri Lankan in Qatar had any problem he should immediately inform the embassy.
