Due to the consequences of adverse weather prevailed in the island, 595,554 individuals of 153,851 families are still sheltered in relief camps.

213 individuals lost life due to this disastrous situation while 79 individuals are still missing, says the Disaster Management Centre.

Meanwhile, the landslide warning issued by the National Building and Research Organization for 07 districts will stay in effect until this afternoon.

Accordingly, the warning will take effect in Ratnapura, Kalutara, Kegalle, Galle, Matara amd Hambantota districts. 

Due to heavy showers on Hydro Power Plants in Central hills for the past days, the water levels in Maussakaele and Castle Ri dams have increased.

Disaster Management Centre said that the water level in Maussakele reservoir is near is at the brim of overflowing.

Meanwhile, 7 houses in Ampara have been damaged due to a rough wind occurred last night with heavy showers.

Police said that several shops were also damaged.

Met Department has announced that the South Western part of the island would receive more showers tomorrow than the showers it received today.
