The special commodity tax imposed on imported sugar has been increased from 13 to 23 rupees, a 10 rupee increase  

Similarly, the regulations with regard to the permit provided for the importation of vehicles for senior level managers and employees of the state sector has been changed.

The circular with regard to the matter has been issued by the secretary to the treasury and finance ministry. R.H.S Samaratunga.

the tax relief, has been increased  upto 65% for vehicles up to the value of

25 thousand US Dollars.

The tax relief on vehicles valued between 25 thousand  and  30 thousand US Dollars has been increased to 60% and vehicles obtained through the permit must be registered primarily under the name of the permit holder.

Several other regulations have also been mentioned in the respective circular.

Meanwhile, the vehicle import association says that the Leasing loan limit for buses accommodating less than 33 seats, has been increased to 90%.

The chairman of the association Indika Sampath Meren-chi-ge noted that the loan limit for small lorries which was previously 50% has been increased to 70%.
