Landslide warning further extended to next 24 hours

The   Disaster Management Ministry categorically rejects certain reports that the island is to be hit by a Tsunami and a cyclone.

The disaster Management Center stated today that people in Galle and Matara have panicked over such unfounded reports.

Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said that there is no truth to such rumours.

Meanwhile, the landslide warning issued for 7 districts has been further extended for the next 24 hours.

The landslide warning has been issued for the districts of Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya, Hambantota, Galle and Matara.

603 thousand 105 persons are still remaining in makeshift camps after they were displaced by the recent floods and landslides.

At the same time, the MET Department stated that the rainy weather would subside during the next few days.
