The Building Research Organization has decided to further extend the landslide warning by another 24 hours despite the decline in heavy rains.

The landslide warning has been issued on the districts of Ratnapura, Kegalle, Galle, Kalutara, Matara, Hambantota and Nuwara Eliya starting from 2 o’clock this afternoon.

At the same time, the Meteorology Department stated that intermittent strong winds may prevail across the country.

Meanwhile, Asia Development Bank has pledged a US$2 billion grant to Sri Lanka to provide relief assistance to the people affected by the recent floods and landslides.

The agreement relevant to this grant was signed by Secretary of Ministry of Finance and Media Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga and head of Asian Development Bank resident mission Tadateru Hayashi today.
