Postal Unions have threatened to launch a two-day token strike effective from Tuesday midnight.

The unions are protesting against a charge that there is a plan to set up hotels in Main Post Office buildings.

Joint convener of the Joint Postal Workers Front Chinthaka Bandara said that a protest will also be held in front of the Central Postal Exchange this afternoon.

Post Master General Rohana Abeyrathna was asked by our news team to comment on these allegations made by 28 postal trade unions affiliated to this joint front.

He responded that the department is ready to take an administrative decision to face worker strikes.
