HIRU news reporter for the Ja ela region Bennett Ferdi-nan-daz stated that he has filed a petition with the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission today with regards to the incident involving minister of Tourism Development and Christian Affairs John Amaratunga, where the minister allegedly scolded and threatened the reporter

The reporter filed a complaint with Peliyagoda police on June 8th.

Minister Amaratunga abruptly and inappropriately addressed the reporter as ferdinandas attempted to cover the story about the garbage dumping issue in Mutu-raa-jawela.

The meeting was held at John Amaratunga’s party Office in Kandana on June 8.

Meanwhile, several media organizations organized demonstrations  in Colombo voicing their protest against the incident.
