Postal unions threaten they will go for a continuous strike with effect from June 26th although their 48-hour token strike ends at mid night.

The strike was launched at mid night on Tuesday, against amongst other issues, the alleged plans to set up hotels in Main Post Office buildings.

Consequently, at the Central Postal Exchange in Colombo alone, thousands of items were left unattended.

Joint convener of the Postal Trade Union Front Chinthaka Bandara stated that his union has decided to re-launch the strike continuously from June 26.
