One-hour cleaning period from today help prevent the spread of Dengue

Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Dengue and the Ministry of Health have set up a program where they have made it a compulsory requirement that all private residences, public institutions, and private company’s dedicate one hour a week to “clean up”,

The program, aimed at reducing breeding sites for dengue mostiques,  will be implemented from 9.30 to 10.30 a.m. every Friday.

 health officers and Tri- Forces personnel will be carrying out inspections .

A three month Dengue prevention program is already in progress, a directive from  President Maithripala Sirisena and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

the Health Ministry stated that the subject minister, Rajitha Senarathna has requested the President to declare it a disaster situation to manage garbage dumping, which has been a main cause for spread of dengue.

62 thousand 857 dengue cases have been reported so far this year, making it  the highest number of cases ever reported within a year.
