Garbage disposal assigned to the Army from tomorrow

The government has made a decision to seek the support of the Army from tomorrow onwards for garbage disposal with the increase in the number of dengue patients reported.

Meanwhile President Maithreepala Sirisena engaged in an observational visit at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Mulleriyawa, IDH today.

The president noted that measures will be taken immediately to overcome the shortcomings in the hospital.

The president further advised provision of necessary specialized medical facilities without hindrance to patients.

Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne attending a media briefing with regard to creating awareness on implementing a special programme for dengue eradication noted that a decision was taken to obtain the support of the Army for garbage disposal.  

During the media briefing, officers of the dengue prevention unit advised against the use of pain relievers except for paracetamol for fever conditions.

The minister of Health  further noted that measures will be taken in future to administer all charges with regard to  private hospitals including room charges, testing charges and all other expenses.
