The National Dengue Prevention Unit stated today that over 20% dengue patients are school children.

Community specialist of the unit Dr. Prashila Samaraweera said nearly 200 dengue patients have died within this year and another 64 thousand have been infected by dengue.

Meanwhile, admitting dengue patients to several main hospitals including Sri Jayewardenepura and IDH have returned to normalcy after it was limited by these hospitals until yesterday.

Colombo National Hospital authorities said that 349 dengue patients are receiving treatment and 73 out of them are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, SLFP Youth Front Chairman Shantha Bandara said that 5000 members from the Front will be deployed to join in the anti dengue program initiated by the President.
