The General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena Organization Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was granted bail thrice in a single day today.

Earlier, Action has been filed against Gnanasara Thera for allegedly forcibly entering a media conference organized by the Jathika Bala Sena General Secretary Watareka Vijitha Thera and threatening the organizers and making sacrilegious utterances.

Later, Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna issued arrest warrants on June 15th as Gnanasara Thera did not appear before Court in connection with the Case.

However, he was released on bail this morning when Gnanasara Thera surrendered to Courts. The lawyers appeared for the Thera informed Courts that their client did not appear before Courts due to death threats on his life.

The Magistrate released the suspect on grounds that there were no similar charges against the suspect in the past. The Magistrate then fixed the Case to be heard on August 9th.

Thereafter, Gnanasara Thera was arrested when he appeared in the Organized Crime Prevention Unit. The Thera was arrested in connection with a complaint made to the IGP by MP Mujibar Rahuman.

Mujibar Rahuman has complained against Gnanasara Thera for disrupting police officers who were engaged in duty at a road block at Koswatta in Nawala on May 19th.

The Thera has been accused of criminal intimidation and becoming a member of an illegal assembly.

However, the Thera was released on bail when he was produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate Court soon after his arrest.

Later, Gnanasara Thera was produced before Court for the third time in connection with a charge for behaving in a racially and religiously derogatory manner.

However, the Thera was released on a 10 thousand rupee cash bail and two surety bails of 500 thousand rupees each.
