Postal Trade Union Front states that the strike launched at midnight will continue on indefinitely .

Postal workers have launched the strike voicing opposition to several issues including plans to lease out several postal buildings with historical value,  for hotel projects.

The Convener of the trade union front Chinthaka Bandara told our news team the strike will continue until a permanent solution is presented.

A spokesman from the Central Mail Exchange told our news team that almost one hundred thousand items have accumulated at the postal offices as a result of the strike.

In addition Functions at post offices around the country have been crippled.

Meanwhile, ambulance drivers have also launched an island wide strike.

The All Ceylon Provincial Health Services Association is currently  having a discussion with the secretary to the ministry of Health with regards to this strike.
