Residents at several places in Bandarawela raised objections against the President’s Sub Committee which has been appointed to inspect the issues relating to Uma Oya Multi Purpose Development Project today.

A committee was appointed comprising ministers Mahinda Amaraweera, Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza and Patali Champika Ranawaka after a mass protest was held recently in Bandarawela against Uma Oya project.

Our correspondent stated that Ministers Amaraweera and Soyza inspected damaged houses at Makulu Ella and listened to the grievances of the affected residents. JVP provincial councilor Samantha Vidyarathna was also present.

Meanwhile, a meeting between the affected residents and the visiting ministers was scheduled to be held at the Bandarawela Divisional Secretariat. However our correspondent said that residents protested against changing the meeting venue to the Irrigation office.
