6 new political parties recognised by the Elections Commission

The Election Commission has recognized 6 new political parties.

there are now 70 registered political parties in this country.

Those parties and their appointed secretaries include

the United National Freedom Front  where Attorney-at-law Maithri Gunarathna functions as its Secretary with its registered symbol being a comb of bananas.

The United Left Front is registered under the symbol of a boat. Its Secretary is Lal Wijenayake.

The  Labor National Front is registered under the symbol of a sickle , it secretary is M. Thilakaraja

The  National Front for Good Governance is registered under the symbol of the dual flag with M.R. Mohamad Najai appointed as  its secretary.

The Election Commission has also recognized the national Unity Front under the symbol of a pair of spectacles with Asad Salley appointed as secretary.

the Socialist Party has been recognised under the symbol of the balloon with .Mahinda Devage appointed as its secretary.

In total, 92 new political parties had applied for registration, 15 out of them were shortlisted and 6 were chosen.

A spokesman from the election commission told our news team that a new gazette to announce the all registered political parties in Sri Lanka will be issued soon.
