Minister Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the government is ready to call the parties affected by the Umaa Oya project, for another discussion.

Minister Amaraweera told our news team that political party representatives will not be included in this discussion.

Some members of the Presidential Sub Committee appointed to look the issues faced by parties affected visited Bandarawela yesterday.

Affected residents raised objections to the committee members complaining  that their grievances were not being remedied.

Meanwhile, Minister Amaraweera issued a communiqué stating that the behavior of the Provincial councilor was not acceptable.

minister Amaraweera stated that residents living in several villages surrounding of Bandarawela town have been affected by the Project.

He pointed out that long term and short term solutions should be given to them.

Minister Amaraweera said that the country has to bear a huge loss if the project is closed down.

He further said however that an expert team from Germany and Norway is expected to visit sri lanka on August 1st for a revaluation of the project.
