Colombo’s garbage to Aruwakkaru in Puttalam from September

Minister of Western Province Development and Megapolis Patali Champika Ranawaka says that some were attempting to politicize the garbage issue in Colombo.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today, the Minister said that several projects will be launched shortly to generate power using garbage.

Minister of Western Province Development and Megapolis and Western Province Chief Minister were tasked with the responsibility of disposing garbage.

Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka was tasked with overlooking long term plans to address the issue.

Also, President Maithripala Sirisena had given out instructions to enact the law strictly on those obstructing garbage been dumped in selected locations.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court recently issued an order prohibiting garbage of Colombo been dumped in Muthurajawela until the 20th of this month, following a petition filed by residents.
