The Tamil National Alliance is preparing to meet with the Chief Prelates of the 3 Nikaaya’s regarding the constitutional amendment.

A senior spokesperson of the party said that a date was yet to be decided.

Opposition Leader R Sambanthan stated that the current situation in the country with regard to the new constitution needs to be studied in depth.

Meanwhile, Leader of the National Freedom Front Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said that the government did not have a mandate to introduce a new constitution.

However, speaking at a media briefing held at the UNP Headquarters – Sirikotha, Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said that some were spreading false rumours about a constitution which has not even been drafted.
