Agalawatta residents advised to be vigilant due to the adverse weather

As a consequence of the prevalent inclement weather, the National Disaster Management Centre requests residents in the hill country of Agalawatta to be on alert,  regarding potential land slides.

NDMC Assistant Director Pradeep Kodippili said that yesterday Agalawatta had experienced rainfall close to 100 millimetre .

The met department states that showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces.

Showers or thunderstorms may occur in the Eastern and Uva provinces after 2.00p.m

Fairly strong winds to reach up to 50 kilo meters per hour can be expected in the Southern province and Bibile area.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
