A tax sum worth 2% of the value of the plot, will be imposed on abandoned land plots in the Western Province.

The Chief Minister of the Western province Isuru Devaapriya stated that the taxing process will be made effective from today.

The decision was made as a consequence of the rapid spread of dengue fever in the Western Province.

The Epidemiology Unit said, last month, that the highest number of dengue patients, which is over 25 thousand 279, was reported from the Western Province.

The highest number of dengue patients, being 13 thousand 111 was reported from Colombo District.
