The Petroleum Trade Union Collective threatened to launch a wildcat strike if they are not granted the opportunity to meet with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe before July 14th.

Convener of the collective D.J. Raajakaruna said that the proposed strike is to voice their objections against Trincomalee Oil Tanks being leased to India, also to make it known that they are opposed to the takeover of Oil Tanks at Hambantota Harbour and the overhauling of Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.
