Navy successfully rescues a wild elephant drifting 8 NM away from Kokku Tuduwai

The Sri Lanka Navy has successfully rescued a wild elephant that was drifting 8 nautical miles away from Kokku Tuduwai in deep sea off the coast of Kokilai yesterday.

A fast attack boat on patrol spotted the elephant drifting away with the currents.

A second  fast attack boat and a team of divers joined the rescue operation.

A team of wildlife officers  and the rescue teams used ropes and brought the elephant safely back to shore.

The wildlife officers  released the elephant into jungle in Yan Oya, Pulmudai.
