The MET department says that areas experiencing drought conditions, may only experience rainfall as late as October.

960, 517 individuals have been adversely impacted by the dry weather conditions affecting 13 districts.

The Disaster Management Center noted that due to drought conditions, Trincomalee, Batticaloe, Mannar, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Kurunegala, Puttlam, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa districts have been severely affected.
