Former Navy Media spokesperson Dasanayaka remanded until July 19th

The arrested former navy media spokesman commodore D.K.P. Dassanayake was remanded until July 19th by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna today.

Commodore Dassanayake was brought to courts from Welisara navy hospital by ambulance.

The Magistrate ordered the Prison Superintendent to submit a medical report for Commodore Dassanayake through a team of specialists’ team from Colombo national Hospital.

Colombo Fort Magistrate gave instruction for the Wattala Magistrate to visit the navy hospital yesterday to obtain a confirmation with regards to the health status of the Commodore.

, having assessed his condition, the magistrate later ordered that commodore Dassanayake be produced before Courts.

The Commodore had been informed to appear before the CID on last Wednesday to record a statement in connection with the 2008 and 2009  disappearance of 11 youths in Colombo.

His failure to comply led to his arrested by the CID whilst receiving treatment at Navy hospital that evening.
