Veterinarians to take legal action with regard to death of dogs at Moratuwa University

The Government Veterinarian Association states that it will take legal action against those responsible for the deaths of stray dogs at the Moratuwa University premises.

Association’s Secretary Dr. Pradeep Kumarawadu said that a prohibited variety of drug has been used on these dogs for anesthesia.

Dogs with unusual behaviors have been posted on some social media websites these days.

Captions under such videos explain that the scenes were filmed after the dogs were given anesthesia to remove them from the university premises.

According to animal activists, 23 dogs and several cats were given this anesthesia.

University Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Jayawardana said several animals died after the injections were administered.
