Cocaine container abandoned for 9 months in Colombo port

The Sugar Importers Association stated today that the sugar container, in which a huge stock of Cocaine was found, had been abandoned in Colombo Port for 9 months.

Media Secretary of the organization Hemaka Fernando said there are another 75 to 80 containers of sugar imported from Brazil in Colombo Port.

Sugar Importers announced that they would stop importing sugar from Brazil since last October.

However, Hemaka Fernando said the particular container found at Ratmalana Economic Center had been brought here before last October.

218 kilograms and 600 grams that had been concealed in container of sugar imported by a private company for Sathosa were seized yesterday afternoon.

Sathosa had given a tender to a private company to import sugar for establishment.
