A 2.75 billion rupees loss to the country due to cocaine

The Sugar Importers’ Association says that as a consequence of the importing of sugar from Brazil being terminated, the country will incur a 2.75 billion rupee loss.

218.6 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in a container of sugar that the CWE had imported from Brazil.

With this the authorities took step to bring an end to sugar being imported from brazil.

Police have also taken steps to have more than 50 containers of sugar that has been imported from Brazil, sealed.

The Sugar Importers’ Association said that 60 per cent of the country’s sugar consumption used to be imported from Brazil.

The Association media secretary Hemaka Fernando told our news team that due to this, the country will have to incur a huge economic loss.
