The GMOA token strike launched this morning against the police attempt to abduct the convener of the Medical Faculty Student Activists committee was called off at 4 this afternoon.

The decision to call off the strike was taken following a discussion with the GMOA and Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Minister Sagala Rathnayake.

Despite the GMOA’s decision, Government Dentists Association stated that it will continue the strike until 8 am tomorrow.

Following the meeting with Minister Sagala Rathnayake, GMOA Media spokesman Dr. Samantha Ananda and Dr. Haritha Aluthge expressed their views at a media conference held in Colombo today.

Meanwhile, former SLMC chairman Professor Carlo Fonseka visited Lipton Circus today.

Professor Fonseka was present there to show solidarity to the students who are protesting against the police attempt to abduct Medical Faculty Student Activists convener Ryan Jayalath.
