7000 fever patients being admitted per day; Number of Dengue patients exceeds 110,000; A three-day Dengue campaign in schools begins today

Health sources say that individuals diagnosed with fever have been admitted to government hospitals at a rate of about 7000 patients per day.

The Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit said that according to stats for 2017, the number of dengue patients to date stands at 110 thousand 372, With Approximately 300 deaths reported.

The Epidemiology Unit said further that in the months of June and July 48,805 dengue patients were reported.

The Ministry of Education will launch a special three-day dengue prevention program today, within the Western Province.

The program will be actively implemented in all schools on 28th, 29th and 30th of July with the assistance of Divisional Health Officers, school children, parents and others in the school community.

In addition, the three armed forces,  police and Civil Defence Force will join with schools to assist with the clean up.
