A group of residents affected by the Uma Oya Project have staged a protest , blocking Bandarawela / Badulla road from two sites.

Our correspondent said that the main road is blocked at Dik Aarawa and Bindunu-wewa Peell junction.

The protestors said that a resolution to their issues had not been arrived at.

150 families were informed yesterday that they were required to evacuate their residence as they were at risk, due to a  sinkhole appearing in Dik Aarawa following heavy rains experienced in the area.

E.M.L. Udaya Kumara, the  Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Center un badullas district branch said a group of officers of Building Research Organization are scheduled to visit the area today.
