Supreme Court Judge Prasanna Jayawardana ordered the lawyers appeared for Perpetual Treasuries Capital Holding limited to inform the Commission in writing about the manner in which the company invested huge profits it earned through buying bonds through secondary markets, in electronic and print media and distilleries such as W.M. Mendis Company.

The controversial Treasury bond issue was taken for hearing today before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

The Chief Financial Officer of Global Transport and Logistics Company in which minister Ravi Karunanayake functioned as Managing Director said that he was advised not to maintain any written documents with regard to 145 million rupees received to company from 2016 to date.

The Chief Financial Officer stated this while testifying before the Presidential Commission probing the controversial Central Bank Bond issue.

The State Counsel stated that Arjun Aloysius refused to submit the password of the mobile phone he used at that time.

Later, the Commission ordered Arjun Aloysius to provide such information.

The Chief Financial Officer of Global Transport and Logistics Company Brian Sinnaiah testified before the Commission today.

He said the company was not financially sound enough to purchase a luxury apartment for its Managing Director, Minister Karunanayake therefore it applied for a bank loan.

He said that the monthly loan instalments were paid with 75 million rupees provided by Company Chairman Lakshmi Khanth.

He said Lakshmi Khanth had provided 70 million rupees to the Company on a previous occasion.

When the Commission enquired him the source of these money, Sinnaiah said that he was not aware.

He said he was instructed not to maintain any written document with regard to the said 145 million rupees.

At this moment, President’s Counsel Yasantha Kodagoda said that it is bizarre to state that the mobile phone used by Arjun Aloysius was dropped to a swimming pool and destroyed.

He said the Cash-Safe of Global Transport and Logistics Company is also a box of perpetual treasures.

At this moment, lawyers appeared for Perpetual Treasuries raised objections.
