President visits Kebathigollawa abruptly - Dry rations distributed to those affected due to drought

President Maithreepala Sirisena engaged in an impromptu observational visit in Kebathigollawa today in order inquire into the problems faced by people affected due to the dry weather condition.

The president firstly visited Kahata-gollawa under the Kebathigollawa divisional secretariat.

The president was made aware of the issues faced by area residents owing to the arid weather.

The primary request of area residents was the provision of water suitable for consumption.

Accordingly, President Maithripala Sirisena issued a directive to relevant authorities to provide dry rations to those affected by the recent drought prevailing in several districts.

The President’s Media Unit stated that president Sirisena has instructed authorities to ensure that drinking water is supplied to these areas as well.

15 districts have been affected due to the dry weather and over one million people have adversely affected.
