The Attorney general’s Office informed the special Presidential Commission probing the Central Bank Bond Scam that attempts have been made to delete data on Arjun Aloysius mobile phone which is currently in the Commission custody.

Additional Solicitor General President Counsel Yasantha Kodagoda informed the Commission that the attempt has been made during the last 48 hours and the mobile phone number belonging to the daughter of Arjuna Mahendran has been used for the purpose.

Attorney-at-law Anuja Premarathna who appeared on behalf of the Owner of Perpetual Treasuries Limited Arjun Aloysius told the Commission that his client has forgotten the pass word of his phone.

At that juncture, Commission Chairman, Supreme Court Judge K.T. Chithrasiri said that if the statement is found to be false, it would be contempt of Court.

At the same time, President’s counsel Yasantha Kodagoda said that somebody has attempted to enter the mobile phone of Arjun Aloysius through internet, which is currently under the Commission’s custody.

He further said that a Singapore based mobile phone number belonging to the daughter of Arjuna Mahendran and wife of Arjun Aloysius, Anjali Mahendran has been used for the purpose.

President Counsel Yasantha Kodagoda requested the Commission to issue a special order to prevent such attempts.

A legal glitch prevented the Commission to issue such an order today but would announce it tomorrow.

Meanwhile, former finance minister Ravi Karunanayake is scheduled to be testified before the Bond Commission tomorrow.
