The Met Department states that there is a possibility that wind speeds will increase over the southern half of the island, particularly over the central hills, Western, Southern sea areas.

Showers or thunderstorms will occur periodically in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces as well as in the Galle, Matara,and Kaluthara districts.

Intermittent showers will occur in the North-western province and in the Colombo, Gampaha and Hambantota districts.

Duty Meteorologist   janaka kumara stated that heavy rainfall, as much as 50 mili meters can be expected in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kandy, Galle, Matara and Kaluthara districts.
