It was implied today that water tariff might be revised once the drought is over.

Minister in charge, Rauff Hakeem, speaking at a ceremony in Matara today stated that although the water tariff should be revised every three years, a revision has not taken place for nearly 5 years.

Meanwhile, the maximum retail prices of rice have been gazetted.

Accordingly, the maximum retail price of a kilogram of local samba rice varieties except Keeri Samba and Suduru Samba will be 90 rupees while a kilogram of imported samba rice will be 80 rupees.

The maximum retail price of a kilogram of Nadu rice will be 80 rupees while a kilogram of imported rice would be 75 rupees.

Furthermore, the Consumer Affairs Authority noted that the maximum retail price of a kilogram of local Kekulu rice will be 78 rupees while a kilogram of imported rice will be 65 rupees.
