SLFP Ministers meet the Prime Minister after a discussion with the President.

SLFP Ministers have requested that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe ask Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake to resign from his portfolio.

SLFP Ministers group made this request during a meeting they had with the Premier before the Cabinet meeting commenced this morning.

The ministers stated that it is the responsibility of minister Karunanayake to resign from his post in order to safeguard the dignity of the unity government.

Meanwhile, Minister Ravi Karunanayake did not participate in the Cabinet meeting presided by President Maithripala Sirisena, this morning.

SLFP ministers discussed this issue with the President last night, requesting that the President either remove minister Karunanayake from his current post or ask him to resign with immediate effect.

It has been reported that the President pledged to resolve the issue in the next few days.
