Motorcyclists protest against the Rs. 25,000 fine

With the cabinet nod being given for the. 25,000 rupee minimum fine for traffic offences, motorcyclists have expressed their objections in a protest against it.

Cabinet has approved the increase of the fines for violating traffic rules with the hope of seeing a decrease in the number of fatal road accidents.

the minimum fine of 25,000 rupees has been implemented for offences such as driving a vehicle without a license, the employment of a person without a license, driving under the influence of alcohol, violating railway crossing rules and driving a vehicle without valid insurance .

In addition the fines for exceeding the speed limit, overtaking on the left, reckless driving, and minors taking the wheel,  have been increased to a minimum of Rs 2,500.
