Disaster Management Center says the landslide warning issued to the districts of Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura and Matara is still active.

The assistant director of the DMC, Pradeep Kodippili noted that people residing in landslide prone areas should be vigilant.

Meanwhile, the water level of several reservoirs of the Mahaweli project, remains at an alarmingly low level.  

The water level in the Victoria reservoir was around 20% of the capacity while the water level in the Udawalawe reservoir has receded to 6%.

The water levels in Castlereigh, Mawussakele and Dambulu oya have improved.

The Mahaweli Authority noted that the water level of the Kawudulla and Giritale reservoirs has receded below 8%.  

Meanwhile, the Met department stated that fairly strong winds  can be expected  at times  over the country particularly in Uva,  Northern, Northcentral,  North-western  provinces  and  Mathale,  Ampara,  Nuwara-eliya  and  Hambanthota  districts and surrounding sea areas.

Showers will occur at  times  in the  Sabaragamuwa  and Central  provinces  and  in the  Kalutara,  Galle  and Matara districts.

Several  spells  showers  will  occur  in  the  North-Western  province  and  in  the  Colombo,  Gampaha  and Hambantota districts.

Fairly  heavy  falls  above  50mm  can  be  expected  at  some  places  in  the  Sabaragamuwa  provinces  and Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.
