Official sent to Kataragama to probe dispute at Devalaya

Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs has sent an assistant commissioner to Katargama to probe as to why the early morning Pooja at the Kataragama Devalaya was not held today (22).

The assistant commissioner was sent this morning and he is expected to present his report tomorrow.

It is revealed that a dispute between the caretakers of the Devalaya and Basnayake Nilame who is the custodian of the Devalaya.

The Devalaya, which is usually opened at 4.30am for the first Pooja of the day was opened at 7am with the intervention of police and devotees.
