Chairman of the Elections Commission said that it may take around 10 more days for the Speaker of Parliament to forward the Local Government Elections Act to the Commission.

Accordingly he said that it would be possible to hold the election in about 75 to 100 days.

Nominations will not be called before October as the election needs to be held on a date that would be 8 to 10 weeks after doing so.

However, the election will have to be held after the Ordinary Level examination in December and therefore it would most likely be held in January.
